Color: Amber, maybe the darkest yet
ReplyDeleteSmell: boozy, some spice but having trouble getting much more
Taste: a little burn up front but a nice spicy kick, some earthiness and a little sweet kick to it, too. Aftertaste lingers in the tongue for a while. I like this.
With ice: less burn but still an earthy spiciness. Is that a thing? I like it! Guessing it is a rye or at least has a higher rye mash bill. Probably my favorite so far!
I agree on this “earthiness” for sure. It’s funky, but in a really cool way.
DeleteColor: darker amber
ReplyDeleteNose: It’s a party in vanilla town. Oak, a little musty but in a good way - like the inside of a rickhouse. Picking up some cherry and maybe almond extract. Sweet, wet wood - like a forest in fall.
Taste: Rich and smooth. Minimal burn. Lots of vanilla and oak - lots of tannins, but they are soft.
Finish: long and warming.
This is definitely my favorite so far. I think I love this.
This one adds some sophistication to our set so far. A more approachable aroma, seemed to have some caramel in the nose, but defintely some in the flavor. A bit peaty, but not nearly as long of an aftertaste as all of the scotches I've ever had. Very smooth and the most enjoyable one so far.
ReplyDeleteBoldest flavor yet. Strong, with wood and spice. Nice long finish. Best yet (why do I feel like that will be a trend)
ReplyDeleteSJX scale 1-4: 3 (I’ll have another)
Not a bourbon, I don't think. Oaky afterbirth, in the words of Michael Scott. Dry. Not much of an aftertaste. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteDelish! Felt this much more in the back of the throat while 1 and 2 were much more on the tongue. Nice aroma and a much longer finish than 1 or 2. Our fav so far.
