The ten year old Edradour is handmade and one of the last Single Malt Whiskies from a traditional farm distillery still in production today. The methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years and are only just capable of commercial quantities. Indeed Edradour Distillery makes as much whisky in a year as most distilleries produce in a week. A rare pleasure for a fortunate few.
Aged in a combination of Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks. Chillfiltered at 40% ABV.
Age: 10
Proof: 86
Origin: Highlands

Hints of Windex. Followed by the fiery burn of kerosene. It's a no for me.
ReplyDeleteNot my favorite. I am not a scotch guy. Strangely, this one is lingering less and so I like it more. That aroma hits you right up front and the flavor matches it perfectly. I don't have the right words for the sweet earthy smell and taste and again, not my thing. But I can appreciate it for what it is and could enjoy something like this from time to time.
ReplyDeleteColor: light amber
ReplyDeleteNose: smoke, chocolate, rum-soaked fruit cake,
Taste: spice, a little honey/sherry sweetness, citrus marmalade?
Finish: drying/tannic- but in a good way,
I like this. Definitely a scotch, but refined and subtle.
Scotch for sure, but not my favorite. In your face grainy and a bit honey, it got better the more I tasted but a 1 (not for me)
ReplyDeleteI liked this one. I forget all the reasons why...but I liked it - Not in my top 2 though
ReplyDeleteEither note not a great scotch, or just not great. First one I poured out!
