This high proof, Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon was named for Henry McKenna, the Irish immigrant who adapted his family's whiskey recipe to work with the grains he found in Kentucky. Henry McKenna is one of the longest aged Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys available today, resting in the barrel through 40 Kentucky seasons. Critics agree that this is perfectly balanced Bourbon.
Age: 10
Proof: 100
Origin: Bardstown, KY

Color: dark amber
ReplyDeleteNose: corn, candy corn, some cherry, very sweet
Taste: spicy and a little hot, cherry, a little thin and hollow, bitter tannins
Finish: not much to it
I’m not sure what I think of this one. Better than whiskey 1, but not as good as any of the others.
Even adding a few drops of water failed to open it up or soften it. I’m scared to see which one this is.
A little sweetness, but mostly I just get the heat. Not much to the finish. Assume pretty high proof. It’s OK. 2
ReplyDeleteAgree with the comments above. Sweet, def feel the heat. I am enjoying it but not my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis one seemed pretty unremarkable to me. I definitely enjoyed it but it didn’t have anything that stood out.
ReplyDeleteSweet heat here too--burn on the lips when first sipping and maybe a little cinnamon. I added ice and it became a bit smoother and woodier.
