Basil Hayden Toast

Drink the bottle labeled "13." Leave your tasting notes in the comments.

The latest permanent release from Basil Hayden® consists of an entirely new brown rice mashbill and a secondary finish in toasted barrels. The result is a bourbon with less spice, and deepened notes of sweet caramel with a bright, light mouthfeel.

Age: NAS

Proof: 80

Origin: Clermont, KY

  1. Color: medium amber
Nose: vanilla, oak, lemon tart or something citrusy, ginger, and candy Red Hots
Taste: a little heat, some caramel sweetness, something fruity, maybe a baked apple thing?
Finish: The finish is longer than some and there is a richness to the mouthfeel.

I like this one a lot. It’s still no match for the Knob 12, but it’s really good.

  2. Sweetness. Maybe vanilla and oak. A little burn. I don’t get a lot of finish but it lingers in the mouth a bit. Very drinkable. 3.

  3. Very drinkable. Nice caramel in the aroma and a little bit in the flavor. Very nice Christmas whiskey
