Bowman Port Barrel Finish

Drink the bottle labeled "5." Leave your tasting notes in the comments.

Our Isaac Bowman Bourbon is aged in charred white oak barrels, then finished in port barrels, many of which come from Virginia wineries. This combination of finishing barrels produces flavors of jam with caramel and spice notes. Isaac Bowman is produced in a similar fashion to our Abraham Bowman port-finished bourbon, which won World’s Best Bourbon in 2016.

Age: NAS (said to be four to six years old)

Proof: 92 Proof

Origin: Fredericksburg, VA

  1. Another good one! Smooth with a little heat. Caramel. Honey. Wood. Good finish. 3.

  2. Very smooth and drinkable. I detected a bit of caramel and honey flavors. I couldn't place the aroma, but it was much more gentle than our previous ones.

  3. I did not like this one. Maybe my tastebuds and nose… buds (?) were having an off night… Tt smelled a little musty but also kind of sweet (I see others said honey and that sounds right). Tasted similar to how it smelled but also with some added funkiness on the finish that I can best describe as seaweed. Some unpleasant harshness too. Not a whiskey for me, apparently.

  4. Color:dark amber
Nose: vanilla, apple, a little baking spice and some bread
Taste: vanilla, oak, a little mint
    Finish: long, pretty sweet

This is my second favorite so far. I think number 3 is still my favorite. And number 4 was excellent. But yeah, I like this a lot.
